October 7 and the Hamas attack on the Jews had extreme repercussions outside Israel, for Jews everywhere. In America, in Europe, on and off campus. Protests abound, often violent, and always annoying to those inconvenienced by them, for instance, when protesters take to the streets and block traffic. There is only so much that can be done about these protests in those countries claiming to uphold the value of free speech.
Is “From the River to the Sea” a call for the genocide of the Jewish people? Does it constitute hate speech? What can legally be done to protect the Jewish people during this dangerous time? As always, the answer to all three questions is the same: “it’s complicated.”
