Facebook’s “Meta” Means “Dead” in Hebrew

The rebranding of Facebook Inc., to “Meta,” has led to hilarity in Israel. The word “meta” is also a Hebrew word, meaning “dead.” The new name has led to a trending hashtag: #facebookdead, as well as a slew of funny tweets, including this one from Zaka.


Loosely translated, the Zaka tweet means “No worries. We’re on it. #facebook_dead”
