Israel started off a winner in the fight against the coronavirus, with a lockdown that worked well to slow contagion. But when the lockdown was abruptly ended, coronavirus got the upper hand. Now Israel has surpassed the U.S. for per capita cases of coronavirus.
Last week, Israel saw 8,000 new daily cases of the virus, with a 14 percent infection rate. Will Israel successfully wrestle the virus back under its tenuous control? One can only hope, with the newest strict lockdown measures in place throughout the High Holiday season and possibly beyond.
