On Monday, an El Al plane took off from Israel to the UAE for talks on opening embassies in the two countries, signatories to the newest peace accord with Israel. Besides being the first direct flight from Israel to the UAE, it was also the first time an Israeli plane, flying from Israel, flew over Saudi Arabia. Passengers on the plane included both the Israeli delegation as well as United States National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien and White House Special Adviser Jared Kushner.

The Trump Administration brokered the peace accord, known as the Abraham Accord. It is expected that other Gulf States may follow suit in making peace with Israel. The threat of Iran has indeed made strange bedfellows, though notably, the Arabs of the PA and Gaza are not happy about this state of affairs.
