The Jewish Leadership Conference, a conservative think tank, has announced its roster of speakers for its third annual conference: Jews and Conservativism. The speakers run the gamut from intellectuals, spiritual giants, and Zionist leaders. But the featured speaker is Henry Kissinger.
Moshe Phillips argues in The Jerusalem Post that Kissinger doesn’t deserve an award, and outlines three times Kissinger betrayed the Jewish people and the Jewish State. There’s the Yom Kippur War when Kissinger tied Israel’s hands so it could not launch a preemptive strike. Kissinger’s decision likely contributed to the high casualty rate in that war: 2,656 dead Israeli soldiers.
In the aftermath of that war, Kissinger threatened to cut off U.S. aid to Israel, if Israel didn’t give up parts of the Sinai to Egypt. At the same time, Kissinger tried to block the Jackson Amendment, threatening once more to close the wallet to Israel, unless Jews voted against Scoop Jackson, who was trying to tie trade with Russia to the emigration of Russian Jews to Israel.
In 2010, tapes were released in which Kissinger told Nixon not to bother about Russian Jews, that “[This] is not an American concern. The emigration of Jews from the Soviet Union is not an objective of American foreign policy. And if they put Jews into gas chambers in the Soviet Union, it is not an American concern.”
This is who they’ve decided to honor???
