The media had a field day reporting on the funeral of Rav Dovid Soloveitchik on Sunday, reporting huge crowds. But the truth is, even if “tens of thousands” attended Rav Dovid’s funeral, this is a small number, compared to the estimated 300,000 who turned out for Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Auerbach’s funeral, in the days before the coronavirus pandemic.

Rav Soloveitchik was 99 years-old when he died due to complications of COVID-19. Too many elderly tzaddikim have died due to the coronavirus plague. It is sad to witness how many of the greatest tzaddikim of our time have been taken from our midst: an inestimable loss to the Torah world!
