Hadar Goldin’s Body Expected to Be Returned Next Week After Advocacy Efforts

Hadar Goldin

Israeli families’ advocacy has successfully pushed for pre-October 7 captives, including fallen soldier Hadar Goldin, to be included in hostage negotiations with Hamas. An Israeli official confirmed to Maariv that Goldin’s body is expected to be returned next week, towards the end of phase one of the deal. This marks a significant step forward in the long-standing efforts to bring Goldin home.

Hadar Goldin was killed during Operation Protective Edge in 2014, and his body has been held by Hamas for over a decade. Initially, the IDF’s hostage count following the October 7 attacks did not include Goldin or other pre-October 7 captives like Avera Mengistu, Hisham al-Sayed, and Oron Shaul. Leah Goldin, Hadar’s mother, fought to ensure their inclusion, highlighting the dedication of families to secure the return of their loved ones.

The Goldin family’s unwavering commitment and advocacy have been crucial in keeping the issue of the pre-October 7 captives, including Hadar Goldin’s remains, at the forefront of negotiations. The family’s emotional plea, with Simcha Goldin warning of societal collapse without the return of all captives, has underscored the urgency and importance of this development.
