It was a peaceful summer morning when a man began shouting threatening antisemitic epithets at a guy waiting on the southbound platform of the Gates Avenue station for the J train on June 13. Thinking quickly, the victim took out his cell phone to record the incident. The shouter then grabbed the phone and hurled it onto the subway tracks in the path of the oncoming train.
The good news? The phone wasn’t damaged and police were able to retrieve it and view the antisemitic incident. The attacker is clearly visible and now an attempt is being made to track him down. What happened is now being investigated by the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force.
